CHUCK BERRY: The lost broadcasts
I never realised until today that Chuck Berry was only born a year after my late father. At the age of 86 he is still going strong. One of the things that I am finding most interesting about the Gonzo lost broadcasts series is the way that it is overturning some commonly held misconceptions. Or - more properly - mythconceptions (its Easter so I am allowed bad puns).
According to popular legend the Berrymeister is a miserable old git who treats his bands appalingly. But look at this. He is laughing, smiling and obviously having fun with them. Instead of being a curmudgeonly old so and so, he seems the sort of dude I would like to get up and play Johnny B Goode with.
